Understanding the full context of wellbeing

At The Whole Perspective, we support your overall wellbeing through psychological therapy and integrative wellbeing referrals that honor the whole person.

The practice is grounded in the understanding that mental health and wellbeing are shaped by more than symptoms and labels. We are all unique, with a complex mix of biological, psychological, social, cultural and environmental factors, influencing how we feel, cope, and relate to the world around us.

The Whole Perspective considers this entire picture to develop a comprehensive understanding of the whole person and provide therapeutic support that is thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence informed.

We recognize that psychological care is often just one part of a change journey. Through trusted partnerships, we connect you with broader health and wellbeing services to fully support your goals.

Registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Health and Care Professions Council (UK)

Dr Matea Doroc is the Principal Psychologist at The Whole Perspective, a private psychology practice offering psychological therapy and referrals to complementary wellbeing services. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Matea takes a whole-person perspective. Her approach is grounded in evidence-informed psychological care while considering the broader context of each person’s individual needs.

The name "The Whole Perspective" reflects Matea’s belief that psychological care is most meaningful when it considers the whole person, not just one concern or symptom. This means making space for a person’s story, relationships, emotions, values, and patterns over time. It also includes the different parts of self that may show up during stress, change, or uncertainty. For Matea, this broader perspective supports deeper understanding, compassion, and care that responds to each person’s individual circumstances.

Matea's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Honours from Victoria University, a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Deakin University, and a Graduate Diploma of Forensic Psychology from Swinburne University. Matea is registered with both the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom. She has also engaged in extensive training, both nationally and internationally, in evidence based therapies to uphold the highest standards of clinical knowledge and practice.

Matea  brings 19 years of experience across the psychology and mental health sector, providing psychological support for people with complex needs. Her experience spans both public and private settings and includes individual therapy, group programs, clinical supervision, program development, and professional training. Her work is grounded in Schema therapy with integration of additional evidence based approaches to meet each individal's needs, including:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

In addition to her clinical work, Matea has held senior advisory positions with responsibility for policy and program development. She has contributed to program development, conducted clinical integrity audits, established best-practice clinical frameworks and led policy and program implementation within the public sector.

Matea has experience developing and managing clinical teams across public and private settings. Her work has included recruitment, leadership, mentoring, and supporting clinicians as they grow in their professional practice. This experience connects closely with the clinical supervision she offers through The Whole Perspective, where she supports reflective practice, professional development, clinical integrity, and safe, thoughtful service delivery.

At The Whole Perspective, Matea brings all this experience together in a grounded and thoughtful way. Her work is guided by care, reflection, clinical integrity, and a strong respect for each person’s individual story.

Your experiences, your story and the wider context of your life are approached with genuine interest and care. You can expect a warm, curious and non-judgmental space where you feel respected, heard and understood.
